China

Officially Approved in 1992 by the China Center for Adoption Affairs

We're Unique in Many Ways

  • Small group size- You travel to adopt in China individually or in a group of five families or less.

  • Personal Attention- You and your child are given extra-personal attention both here and abroad, yet our fees are among the lowest in the nation.

  • Experience- The China Center of Adoption Affairs (CCAA) approved our agency in 1992, which makes us one of the most experienced adoption agencies placing children from China.

  • Approved to place children with special needs.

  • Optional service: a three-day tour of the city of Beijing!

Our representative: Every adoption group that returns reports a warm and memorable experience with Mr. Nelson Lie. He is our adoption coordinator as well as a professional travel agent. In his kindly, efficient manner, he looks after every need of the babies and parents.

The children: The majority are Han Chinese. Girls from six months to six years become available for adoption in government orphanages. Males are also available for adoption. Only one child may be adopted at a time.  The current wait from log in of the dossier in China until a referral is sent to the adoptive parents is at least 24 months. Or, you may wish to consider a special needs child who is available.

Qualifications: Couples in their first marriage must be married at least two years to qualify. If either spouse is in their second marriage, the marriage length is five years.  Adoptive families may be childless or have up to four biological or adopted children. Spouses must be between the ages of 30 and 50 to qualify; in the case of a special needs adoption parents up to 55 may adopt.  An income of at least $30,000 (with an additional $10,000 for each dependent child) and a minimum net worth of $80,000 are required.

The process: When the orphans are placed with the adoptive parents, the adoptions are finalized with the Civil Affairs Bureau of the Province. Then, the group proceeds through the US orphan visa process in Guangzhou.

The wait: The current wait from submission of the dossier in China until a referral is sent to the adoptive parents is around 24 months. Ethnic Chinese applicants and families that live in China may have their adoption cases expedited by the CCAA for an additional fee. Families desiring to adopt a boy should expect an additional wait of about three months. About eight weeks after referral acceptance, parents travel to China to complete the adoption.

The referral: The CCAA will select a referral for you according to their guidelines. You will receive the child’s medical and social information before you travel. This information typically includes a photo, medical summary, blood work results, and a social summary.

Your destination: A Chinese gateway city. Our bilingual representative accompanies you to the province and guides you through the adoption and immigration process. You may also choose to take a three day pre-adoption tour to famous sites in Beijing. Mr. Nelson Lie can also arrange Homeland Tours for families who wish to return with older adopted children to see their orphanage.

Airlines: You can make your own travel arrangements. Cathay Pacific, as well as Delta, fly from Los Angeles to Hong Kong.
